    Bravo 1?

What would be a fair price for a set of upper gears and labor for a newer style Bravo 1 (swept back model) ?

The lower is shorter than a standard lower by 2" raising prop shaft (or X dim) which translates into less surface area of the drive meaning less drag and high speeds, with my set-up it helped the handling of the boat bunches!!!

I just found out that XR upper gear sets are around $1,900 (not that I need them [yet]). Hopefully yours are cheaper!

Carl if needed you can swap the forward and reverse gears to get more time out of them..

Street price for XR gears is a lot lower than that. Even BAM offers them for less.

I would not swap forward to reverse. No drive shop that I am aware of recommends it.

I would have someone go in and do a health check on your drive in the off season. And this one isn't a do-it-your-selfer kind of job. Drive set-up done by someone qualified to do it will greatly extend the life of an HP drive.

There are several articles about not swapping the gears once broken in as they have developed a wear pattern.

'98 Bravo I (not swept back).

In 2008 I paid 1336 for the gear set and 680 for labor that included some misc other things
