Multi speed transmissions

There's an interesting thread on another site about multi speed transmissions in boats.
Pat Weismann piped up and commented on a customer w/twin 2,400 HP engines and his transmissions!!!!!!!!!
I'm very impressed w/the Weismann organization. What they don't know about gearboxes isn't worth knowing.

The Weisman guys are uber-cool; sort of a voodoo vibe going on there. You name it, they can do it.

Conceptually, it seems like a logical move. Obviously it's not easy to actually do though.
