    Synthetic Vs Non-Synthetic Gear Lube

I've read a lot of posts on this site regarding gear lube for the old Volvo drives and the concensus appears to be that a good quality hypoid gear oil is the preferred choice over 30wt engine oil. One thing that wasn't clear to me was if there were any issues with using the synthetic hypoid lubes? Anyone have any thoughts on this they can share?

The old vp drives are pretty tough units. I use synthetic gear lube in them and have been doing so for a very long time. It works well and we have had zero problems from doing it. Synthetic lube is superior to the non synthetic lubes... Jamie / Lakeside

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if the fitting on the gear lube pump currently from Volvo will fit the threads on the aq250 leg?

If my memory is correct the filler threads that are used for Merc's larger outboards & Alpha, Bravo & TRS drives will work.. Jamie / Lakeside
