    22c motor?

What is the better motor to go with 502 or 496 Mercruiser?

If the 496 ho had forged internals i think it would be better because of that and the closed cooling..

as for now you cant beat the 502 mag efi..its a stronger engine..

I don't have any experience with the 496 but I beleive the 502 is superior. I had a 96 502 mpi that ran like a top and was plenty of hp/speed if you didn't want to get nuts. The 502 has way more modification choices if you want to go that rout. BTW, I also gave you my opinion about that 22 blackhawk if you look. I have a bh drive on a reg 22 hull, if you want my opin on various set ups you can pm me.

No question about it. The 502.

The 496 is a good motor, but from a long term parts aspect at this point as well as ease & expense views of building up an engine later the 502 would probably be the wisest choice at this point... Jamie / Lakeside

BTW, the 525 is based on a 502 but with a CNC machined block and forged internals and hand assembled and blueprinted with lots of cool parts. My 496 found a new home in Germany!

dont bother with the 496, crap motors, just start with the 502 they are much stronger and better motors
