    not so uniform

George a quick (possibly dumb) question about the fuel lines again..........it appears my pickup tube is 1/2" ID (all good there) but the elbow fitting
connects the pickup and then the fuel line out has a smaller female dia. thread inside............I'm thinking 3/8" or as small as 1/4" not sure.
I might have to scrap something here to make everything uniform...........what good would a 1/2" pickup tube be if it's going through restriction at
the smaller ebow passage..............shouldn't everything be uniforn?...........in other words, if #-8 fuel line is used shouldn't that size dia. carry through all the hose fittings.?...........Also, I have an aluminum tank so should only aluminum fitting be used? ....this has taken so much of my time it's silly!

Pete, pick-up tubes come in many sizes and lengths. Just unscrew it and put in a different tube w/an elbow w/1/2" female threads. I specifically asked for this one. Maybe all it would take is a call to the tank MFGR.

Pete, here's how mine came from the MFGR. I suspect, but I'm not sure, that the 1/2" thread in the tank is standard. Notice I also had a 3/8" return bung welded in to satisfy any future owner who needs it. Obviously, I discarded the hose barb, and reoriented the tube to align w/the hose I was using.

No Pete, the only aluminum piece is the pick-up tube. Everything else is plated steel. It's a fraction of the cost of SST.

I always look forward to seeing restoration projects and pictures so I'm glad yours is still progressing. The guy from Georgia lined up a survey man who should be checking it out this week. I fired the engines after sitting for 3 years on 4/30 and took this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8d3pDeYbPw

Made the the windscreen/windshield from the template Mario sent me from his 27 sport.
don't know if I'll keep it solid (windscreen) or now that all the angles are cut, send it off
to be made into a windshield................what do you think?

Feeling a little claustrophobic since the windscreen went up...........do you think it's too tall?
also, do you think a windshield would work better towards that feeling of "boxed in" since it
would have glass or plexi to look out from?............a picture from the inside looking out.

I think a lot of that decision will depend on how original you are going with the restoration. What is interesting to me is that when you posted a picture from the outside, I thought it probably would not make much difference since you will not be looking out throught the windshield anyway. But the picture from inside the cockpit looking out does give a boxed in feel. For whatever it is worth, I would get a windscreen made for it.

Pete, is the length at center the same as the length at the side 90degree ? Looks a little tall to me but not much. If you plan to stand I think you'll like it. The plexi will feel a lot different than the mock up I think.

Pete , just curious why are you going with a modified version of the wind screen ( pointed ) instead of the orginal ?

Marshall.......it goes from 7-1/2" (corner 90*) to 10" at the center peak so there's a 2-1/2" rise to the center.
Remember, Mario's template (which is exact to what I mocked up) starts about 2" below the V deck mine is
placed on top ......reason is he needed that space to fasten the plexi to the deck....I think I should go 2" lower.

Artie.........the original windshied that came stock was like 16" at center - good protection, but waaay too tall!!

As far as the height, if it were me I'd want the windshield just high enough to have the wind jump over the top of me and my passengers head when seated at cruise speeds. It's nice to have actually have a conversation when your seated. I have to think about glass or solid. Hmmmmm.
