    Mozilla Firefox redirecting...?

I had major issues with my older HP computer. A friend cleaned it up and removed a nasty Trojan....he suggested I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser and Avast as security.........so far everything is OK....problem is when I do a Google search and click on one of the list of search results I am redirected to a Search Directory...? It is not always the same directory, different companies....how do I change my preferences for this function or can I ? Thanks for any direction.....Jeremy

PS. I would have asked the guy that fixed my computer but he is away at sea for work....

My computer "expert" thinks you still have an infection. Run a scan on your Avast and install "SUPERAntiVirus free edition" and run a full scan with it. It has been very good at getting the extra nasty bugs out of my computer. BTW, he is a big fan of Mozilla Firefox. I use Google Chrome.

Redirection is always another bug buried in your system, the two programs below are two of the best. They both have free versions and are well worth having on your machine.

You are also entitled to down load Microsoft Security Essentials, it is a free full security suite that covers all the bases. I have been running it for about 7 months it has worked flawlessly, and obviously designed and written by the maker who's product it protects.

Recently picked up a bug, I had cleared it up,all except for the redirect issue. Tried Avast,Spybot,Window Defender. They all kept coming back OK. So I tried Security Essentials, That found it ,Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip!!

It sounds like your computer may still have some malware or adware installed that is redirecting your search results. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Run a full system scan with your antivirus program (Avast) to ensure that your system is free of any malware or viruses.

Check your browser extensions and add-ons to see if there is any suspicious or unfamiliar software installed. Remove any that you don't recognize.

Reset your browser settings to their default state. In Firefox, go to the "Help" menu and choose "Troubleshooting Information." Then click the "Refresh Firefox" button.

Consider using a different search engine or clearing your search history and cache.
