Duratec help needed

Would someone suggest a Duratec primer for vinylester resin/stitchmat over old 'glass?
And who's the best, least expensive source?

and I hope I'm not being too presumptuous......
Would someone be willing to split a gallon (I haven't found it in smaller containers).
The main problem is I don't do this for a living and these products seem to have a fairly short shelf life. I hate buying gallons of something and it be bad and unuseable in 4-6 months.

Mr. C, Duratec has a vinylester version of Primer. Thats the one ya want to buy. Its bullet proof, after the sanding window time closes. You shoot it with a cup gun....Like the one I sent ya........

George , Durtech is great stuff i have used it for over 38 years now and so has every Boat Co that i have ever worked at. I just love this product which has a shelf life of a year , high build up to 40 mills or more ,easy sanding , and you can spray it on most epoxies . George , i think this is what you are looking for 702-003 Black -707-002 Gray or 715-002 White which i prefer . I forgot to mention a source and if you want the white primer you just might want to ask which i always get and this place handles it www.michiganfiberglass.com and these other two also handel it but i do not know if they have it in white www.expresscomposites.com www.fiberglast.com

I want to make sure we're talking asbout the same thing. As I mentioned, I'm a hobbyist.......
I want to layup some 1708 Knytex using vinylester resin over some 23 year old 'glass and get as strong of a bond as I can.
Is this the product line I need?

George , if you are looking for a primer yes it is and in fact there are two different types of primer that Duratec makes one is for building plugs which is also great stuff that can be applied up to 120 mills which is there 707-051 and the other that i listed above is Durtec's product # number and the reason i like the white is....... because sometimes when you spray over the gray primer the material seem's some what darker kinda like a ( bleed thru ) even though you have enough paint or jell covering it and like CAPTBEACH www.uscomposites.com is also a great place to get materials but.........................they only offer gray in Duratec's product line unless they are now selling the white! George, If ya trying to get it as flat as possible cause its a lumpy or un-even substrate after grinding the old stuff glass. Id use vinylester duratec (if your going to ues vinylester resin) to skin coat the low spots to save some work and time, or skin coat the whole area. But personally, I dont have a problem with grinding something down thats 10 or 20 yrs old and flat with 32 grit and wiping it super clean with acetone and the laying it up with vinylester or any resin without having any bonding issues. The acetone softens it up and will help it bond , so use generously just before you start. And back wet the prepared substrate before you add the glass. Be heavy handed with the resin on the 1st layer and then let the 2nd layer pick up any excess right behind the 1st................ Make sure you use vinylester catalyst.

They get along in the right hands. I know a little boat builder that mixes 50-50 as a production resin........... Laminates are thinner than a dime and dont break.............

Mike i really get a kick out of this ...because there is no difference in catalyst for Poly or Vinyl weather you use highpoint 90 or.......... because MEK is MEK , and in the the end it all does the same job which means general rule of thumb is 2% hardner !!!!!!
