I recently purchased a 1996 22 classic with a mercruiser 502 EFI without an owner's manual. I checked the transmission fluid and it's low does anyone know what it requires?
thanks,

Transmission fluid?
Isn't that 502 bolted up to a Bravo out drive?

Are you talking about the drive fluid reservoir? I dont think they have dip sticks. If you pulled a dip stick, it was either the engine oil or the power steering fluid.
If you have an Alpha or Bravo or Volvo, you don't have a transmission. When you put the boat on gear, it trips an engine kill switch, so the engine actually stalls for a split second so it can slam into gear.

When looking at the front of the engine directly under the belt on the left hand side there is a black cap I removed it and it has a short dipstick with add and full on it. The oil is below the add the mark, I can look down and see oil. On the front it say's check owners manual which at this time I don't have. The engine is a 502 with a bravo. The person I purchased the boat is trying to locate the manual. thanks, Gregg
I think thats your power steering res. My 02, 6.2L mpi manual says add tranny fluid and go boating.........
Power steering. You can use autotransmission fluid.
