Hello all, restoring project, need wiring harness diagram. Thank You in advance. Can anyone help?
there are no real wiring diagrams from that early era. but a merc wiring harness and diagram will probably work out for you.
the merc harness is 12 wires i think, my 67 16 had a small 6 wire harness( if you could call it that). what will you be using for power??
some things you'll need to take into account is what type of gauges you use . so you get the right senders,or make sure they will work with the power and drive combo you have chosen. also if you are going to use an amp meter instead of a volt meter you'll need heavy gauge wire for that hook up which will be outside of the harness
basically the gauges are 3 wire unless they have internal lights that are hardwired and not on pigtails.
the three connections
I = ignition from the on pole of the ignition switch
G= Ground
S= sender wired to the correct sender eith oil press,water temp,fuel level
hope that helps

Use this page as a guide to the proper colors, I would stick with the new code. It is nice to add a clean fused #10 pair going forward to a fuse block for possible future accessories.
