    Lookit what I found!!!!!!!!!

    On eBay!!!!
It's a dual Mercruiser Thunderbolt IV ignition assembly, complete w/two modules, two coils, selector switches, and all mounted on a nice SST bracket.
It's doubtful I'll use it as is, but it's a great source for components I'd use anyway.
    Coupl'a questions.......
The modules are marked V8-HP. I'm wondering if anyone here knows what the advance is?
Does anyone know what the little round thingie is off on the side just under one of the coils is? It's marked "195".
It was really inexpensive, and hopefully useable.
It supposedly came out of a Seal boat, maybe one of the Donzi-Halter boats built for the Navy??????
    Anyway, here's some pictures.
    Any input would be appreciated.

The "round thingy" looks like a bridge rectifier like that used on an outboard motor.

Was the power for this unit provided directly from stator windings? The military does stuff a lot differently than its civialian counterpart.

Good question Forrest, and I don't know the answer. In fact the engines were missing from the boat when the seller aquired it.

    Yep, like NASCAR.
Also, the selector switches are trip proof, you have to pull the lever out a fraction of an inch to throw it.
It's almost a shame I don't have room to use it like it is.
It would be a conversation starter.

I don't have time to take another picture now, but all the studs you see are bolts installed from the back side and welded into place.
    It's stout!
    It weighs 12#.
