A thing of beauty . Look at all the chrome engine goodies. Nice fuel pressure gauge, too.

And look at all that S-P-A-C-E around the engine!

I'm curious why they don't make the oil filter bracket so the filter hangs down, instead of sideways? I realize there is enough S-P-A-C-E around the engine to let you get some sort of collection/drip catcher beneath the filter. Just wondering. Does it perform better like this?

Let's hear the final results. How did it go? Good speed? Run well? Sounds like a great setup.

Hey, sorry guys, havn't looked at this post in a long time. Not sure why they design the oil filter mount that way but it works well. It is very large(I use 12qts of oil) The boat performs very well, top speed is around 84-85 mph at 5400 rpm. I can cruise at 60mph around 3700 rpm which is nice, and I use the boat in salt water. Will be at the Dust Off in a few weeks.

What drive? Ratio? and prop are you running?

What do you think the hp is?

My father just put a 540 in his '87 22'.
    Running a 1.5 ratio bravo.
The shop claimed over 600 hp with the aluminum heads and 10 - 1 compression.

We are trying to get an idea of where to start with props.

Never dyno'd the motor but was estimated at 625 - 650. with 9.5 : 1 comp and alum heads. I run a blackhawk drive so no help on props. Just start a thread in Performance Talk.
