Bonnie and I received a really nice presentation from a friend, She likes it so much that she wants to make it here desk top or screen saver. I don't think it can be done but maybe finer minds can tell me if it is possible.

Usually the pictures embedded in the PowerPoint are scaled to fit. Most file types retain all of the original picture data but some lose it when it's resized. A lot will depend on the quality of the initial image.
Open the document and right click on the image you want to extract. There should be an option to "Save as Picture". If you get that then save the image using the .jpg format. Then, right click on your desktop, select "Properties" then select the Desktop tab. From there you can browse for the picture you saved and see how it works. Play around with the position to see whether it looks better centered or stretched.
