I had the pleasure of meeting the pilot, Zivi Nedivi in Florida several years ago. Zivi was CEO of a company called Kellstrom Industries, we were bondholders. Kellstrom stockpiled spare aircraft parts for all manner of planes. They were highfliers (no pun) in the 90's but overleveraged the company at the top of the business cycle and went Chapter 11 soon after 9/11 when the industry got soft and they had to mark down their inventory and could no longer support their capital structure. Fortunately, we bailed several months before they filed.
Still Zivi was very personable and engaging. One thing I remember was their reception desk in the lobby was a gleaming, polished aluminum airplane wing about 30' long. They had built in phone banks and computers where the flaps used to be. Very cool and takes on added significance after seeing that video.
