Not 100% but it looks a lot like a big Muski, they catch some of them up on the St. Lawrence.

I was going to guess a Sturgeon,.....they used to catch them nearly that big in northern CA. we used to fish for them off of the barge when I was on the Richard B. Russell while in dry dock at Mare Island, about 40 minutes north of San Francisco.

oh no, it's a sturgeon for sure. i would estimate a 300 to 350 lbs. sturgeon.
i would assume it was caught in the north channel.
a friend told me it was not even caught in the states.
i dont believe him, unless it was caught in canadian waters on the mi. border.

michigan state record for a muski is 5' something inches..5'4" i think.

Looks like the US Record is 468 lbs, caught in San Pablo Bay, CA.

Lots of different varieties, lots of locations, pretty cool

    found it!!!

    Now that’s a fish!

For those who don’t know, the Kincardine Harbour is in Kincardine, Ontario, Canada. Kincardine is about 50 kilometres North of Goderich. This sturgeon was caught on the Kincardine harbour on May 11, 2006 just off the Break Wall outside the Harbouron May 11, 11:00 hat. It weight out at over 1000lbs and measured out at 11’1’’. It was 56’’ around the girth. It took over 6 and a half hours and 8 dozen beers and 4 guys taking turns reeling. Bruno Labbate, who caught the fish but took the picture, so he is not shown in the picture!

wow, was i way off or what?

    Fish Id

Not a sturgeon because of the mouth, sturgeon suck the bottom for food, they have a massive sucker type mouth pointed downward. I caught alot of sturgeon.

oh it is without a doubt a sturgeon. (a lake sturgeon) that last post of mine was not from me, but a quote i took from a web site where i found the pic at. then i read further on and there is some controversy on where the fish was caught.
