My brother in law is selling a predator for your truck. Cheap. It made his truck insanely fast. If I had a Dmax this would be the programmer to buy. It increased his fuel mileage drastically. It has from 40-100 hp settings. Also 65 hp setting made towing a trailer a breeze. We towed 2 atv's on a 400 mile trip and it averaged over 17 mpg at 75-80 on hwy. Very impressive. I have extensive experience with this programmer and it has never caused his truck to have any problems.

I do not know if they make a good tuner for the Dmax but I have a Quadzilla on my Dodge and it really makes a difference, towing and empty.

You probably already know but you at least get a EGT gauge if you are going to boost the power at all over stock, boost is also nice to have.

I've towed a boat from Connecticut to Florida and back and gotten 17-18 mpg, doing the same speeds. Also I've gotten 23 on a long trip without towing any thing.......

I guess I don't understand the "increased mileage" thing.

BTW the truck is an 2004 Duramax LLY. NO mods.

What was your brother in law getting for mileage before he added the predator?

dually, the best i have installed by far was the edge programmer...

p.s.the allison trans that is in the gm trucks are at 70 percent of their duty cycle..if you install a programer that has more then 125 hp it will kill the trans,,,,trust me i did it on a 2005 hd 2500....

One thing to keep in mind when using a tuner, they alter the fuel presure, duration, and timing or a combination of two of those parameters depending on the tuner, most do this by intercepting the signals from the engine sensors and altering them so the engine computer is tricked into providing more fuel or timing which provides more power. The portion of the computer that calcuates fuel mileage uses these sensors to do this so once you have a tuner the mileage on the display is usually thrown off. I usually hand calcuate the mileage and I have noticed a slight increase in mileage on the lowest setting, 30hp, but on the 60hp or 100hp settings the mileage is a less, especially since it is hard to keep you foot out of it when you have 700ft/lbs of torque at your disposal.
