    Cool The Italian Don Aronow?

Classic Boat magazine recently listed 150 of their favorite classics. Although most were sailboats, there was a picture of an interesting offshore powerboat called "Surfury" and designed by a guy named Renato Sonny Levi. Searching the web I found this site, apparently his boat company.

Do you think he is a European Don-Wanna-Be? Anybody ever hear of him?

The Corsair, a legendary performer that was to influence hull shape for ever more, is once again in production. Deriving from the 60s era, sleek elegance sums up the look of the Corsair, which does 48 knots even in a chop - and in total comfort. Glide through any marina and this boat is guaranteed to turn heads.
These are the boats that were winning races in the 60s and 70s. the heyday of offshore powerboat racing in Europe and America. These are designs that “have never been bettered”, according to international motorboat pundits.
How did Don do when against these boats?

Here is a site with the past results of the COWES CLASSIC International Offshore Powerboat Race. Some notable names were winning this race in the 60's!

I'm still trying to find a picture of "Surfury", short of venturing out in this weather (18" of snow, 40mph winds) and buying the magazine. It is a real cool looking craft!

Here is a picture of a 1965 27' Corsair, built by the Levi Boat Company, racing in the Cowes Race and found on the site linked above. Haven't found the "Surfury" yet, but I'm still looking.

SONNY LEVI IS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS. HE CURRENTLY LIVES IN THAILAND ON A SAILBOAT THAT HE BUILT IN INDIA. WHEN HE COMES TO AMERICA, HE STAYS AT MY HOUSE. HE IS ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE BOAT DESIGNERS (ALSO HAS A DEGREE IN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING) AND WAS THE MODERN SURFACE DRIVE GUY. HIS DESIGNS IN THE FIFTIES AND EARLY SIXTIES WERE AMONG THE MOST INNOVATIVE EVER. HE HAS TWO BOOKS OUT "DHOWS TO DELTAS" AND "LEVI, MY FAVORITE DESIGNS" WHICH SHOW HIS WORK. HE IS A NO-%$&* ENGINEER. ARONOW USED PEOPLE LIKE LEVI AND WYNNE TO TRANSLATE HIS IDEAS TO PAPER.
