finally got it with a little help from Marie, got the cable and connector in without removing the lever a PITA but removing the lever would have lead to a much bigger PITA and a how do you retrieve...

finally got the shift cable off, :censored: almost sawed off my arm on the raw glass edges where the foot rest meets the dash. now is search for a 10 foot teleflex morse 33c cable
a big shout out to the designer of this cluster****, :eek::yes::shocking::screwy: so i figure now that I have to split the deck from the hull to change a cable might has well do a whole resto ?????...
