"Offshore powerboat creator, Don Aronow, started the Donzi legacy with a 16-foot rocket quickly labeled 'The Sweet 16' Don's finesse for fast boats remains unmatched..."
It was almost 30 years,...
I know there was a 6 cyl with the eaton drive in 1965 or 66 because a friend of mine had one. I don't think there was a V8 then because I'm sure he would have picked that if it was available to beat...
28 years, I think, maybe 27, but could be 29. I think I have early signs of CRS!
SS is not used on gas tanks because SS depends upon a surface oxidation to protect it. There's not enough dissolved O2 in gasoline to maintain the protective oxidized layer. And that's why "crevice...
I still have mine, vintage 1976. A friend just bought the only other one I know of in town, 1971 I think.
Interesting.... my 16OB has a lot more foam, full length outside the stringers. Did you have foam and remove it, or was it that clean all along.
As for the transom, you probably can do it. ...
Greg ....... I think the mid-90's OBs had a different rear hatch on either side of the motorwell .... This looks like a 70's model to me. But lot's of work.
my '76 16ob is $192.5 for liability only.... other than hurricanes, i just don't see enough risk to pay the higher rates for full coverage....
and beware of agreed value policies, some of them...
Of course, there could be some aftermarket conversions out there pretending to be factory OBs. In fact, I'd bet on it. And all of the factory OBs were white with, I think, only blue or red stripes.
I asked the same question last year and the answer I got was about 700 including the 5 or so built in the 90's .... I've forgotten who had that info but I think it was MadPoodle ....
Anyway, mine...
OK ... I don't know for sure, but I think it's a combination of several things mentioned above: (1) the basic design of the hull is from 1963/4 and it's designed to do 50+ max (2) motors when the OB...
Barry ...The Blues were great as usual ... I love to see the condensation in the air on the low pressure side of the wings as they make their tight turns ... had a teenage girl visiting and she was...
High Life .... it's apples and oranges in comparing a 16' boat to a 27' boat in 3-4' seas .... I was out today in my HydraSports CC (with a 24 degree deep V) which is 22' and I can assure you it...
On second thought .... I think I will be embalmed, have a good glass man seal me in the cockpit.... maybe a fiberglass enclosure that looks like the tonneau ... and be buried in it .... I just told...
Barry .... the problem with Blackwater is there isn't really anywhere to go except up and down the river .... back in the early 70's when Texar was getting lots of bad press, we skied up there all...
Lest the flurry of offers to sell makes you think that the OB isn't desired ..... I have a '76 16 OB that I have owned for 20 yrs and will not sell until I'm too old and feeble to climb aboard! ...
mainly just an inconvenience .... there are places to pull out that are outside of the booms but I would have to call someone to come help me ..
I never realized there were so many ways to bleed brakes.
Barry, have you been out on the bay recently? I saw a nice Regulator with bad oil stains on the bottom yesterday ... right across from...
Of course .... Usually 40 - 45 across the bay and then 50 - 55 in the bayou .... I try to avoid completely moonless nights, though...
Another beautiful night on the bay .... still choppy but less confused .... 45-50 mph coming across ... not bad for a 34 yr old 16 ft boat with a 62 yr old driver... there's nothing like a Donzi!...
Just got back from Hooters on Pcola beach .... not much of a Hooters fan, most of the girls are skanky (if you're married to one, I admit there are a few exceptions) and it's not really a "dive" it...
saltaway sounds like a mild acid ....
also ... as the operator of the boat, power or sail or rowboat, it's your responsibility not to hit anything or anyone, regardless of how stupid they might be ...
i often come home from dinner...
i'm a sailboat owner and a donzi owner, both for many years... they're not mutually exclusive and prejudice goes both ways...
