I'm not confident that steel tanks were "outlawed" in 1970. My Hornet #59 has a Galvanized steel tank and is a 1971. Perhaps I have a limited edition "Outlaw" tank, which might add to the value.;)...

If you get in the ski locker, remove the bracket where the bow lifting eye's threaded rod connects to the hull. My Hornet had the hull number stamped on the back side.
About the only plus for v drives is that the reliability is great and the servicing is easy, cheap and simple.
Barrelback 18. The rudder is not original. Everything else looks legit. Serial number/foil tag?? Probably a small block Ford - Velvet drive with a Crusader 4500 V Drive
Thanks for the replies, I'll wait until mine is out of storage.
22 Classic- Can someone measure the thickness of the deck around the vent area. I want to through-bolt my vents. Thanks in advance!
I have an original pair that I had rechromed. 5/8" rod with the round trim rings. If interested: Bob 661-412-5202 days west coast
My girlfriend in college left a mirror face up in a box in the back seat. The sun hit it just right and lit the headliner on fire.

"Back to the original ? Does anyone remember that the gent boats in Brackish/SALT water now really should he buy steel that should be the question! "
He also said that it would get little use...
$6500 is ridiculous. Performance Trailer in NY is about 3k for a steel 22 trailer. I'm looking for a 22 trailer but an aluminum one. I looked over a Venture for 3.1k and am also interested in an Ace...
If you want to see interest, report that you found a Bench seat Hornet in a barn under a tarp. Sorta like yelling 'free beer'.
Do a search on "rudder". If I recall, a place in Jacksonville has them in stock.
There is no pump on your crusader 4500 v drive. It is cooled from the engine water pump.
I forgot about the hull number.
Everything is identical to my 71: hardware, water intake, V drive, foil tag, shift knob. Unlikely a 69.
Your V Drive is a Crusader 4500 which was standard equipment in 1971. When the engine is running, the water dump is on the port side.
Interesting boat. What V drive is in it? My 1971 Hornet has a Crusader (blue)connected to the Borg Warner velvet drive transmission. The model in mine is AS1172C. The decals, Instatrim trim tab pump...
Mine had a small crack. Filled with epoxy. I cut off a bolt head and screwed the threads into the knob. Put it in the drill press and sanded it at low speed. Don't use too fine a grit or the varnish...
As a 30 year employee of the oil industry, this scenario is highly flawed. I'm no BO fan but this borders on the absurd.
The fire was consistent with a release of gas under pressure. It started...

When I remade mine, I was worried about the screen scratching the deck. I got a length of 1/8 clear vinyl tubing and slit it length-wise. It graps the screen and saves the paint.
Mac will do a great job. He is a perfectionist.
AC Plating in Bakersfield, CA. They specialize in Hot Rods amd custom cars. Very Reasonable. Did the hardware on my Hornet for $400-500. Turn around in 2 weeks.
Sent you a PM.
