The old gal has found a new home. I'm confident that Jon will be a loving parent!

I bought this boat from my brother (Howard O. here on the registry) in the early 90's. For several years, I was obsessed with its restoration, including a complete hull/deck separation, and...
Mine is a 250, and I have to remove the out-drive to change the boot. Ain't no way around it, sorry!
Thanks, I'm an idiot, it was right under my nose!:hyper:
I've searched this site every way I could think of, and can't find it!
It's been a while, but someone had posted that they were manufacturing and selling the original foil type hull identification...
Actually I don't need to drill or do anything to use this pump, except use the round brass plate from the old pump. The plate that came with the new one would probably work, but it is significantly...
The 0701 and the 0801 are identical with the exception of the brass plate. And, it could be used with that as well. I was lucky to get this, they're hard to find.
Thanks to all that replied.

Mine is original crank driven. Sure wish is was pulley mounted, better method in my opinion. The crank style requires a lot of fussing with shims to keep things stress free.
I have a rebuild kit...
Does anyone know what the difference is between the Jabsco 11850-0801 and the 11850-0701?
My original is the 1801, but I found and bought a "NOS" 0701 on ebay for a pretty good price. Now I'm...
Sincere thanks for the reply and graphical explanation. I think you've convinced me that the two issues are not related. No doubt there is a weak seal or other means that water is entering. What is...
For years, I've realized that my old 1969 250 outdrive has been taking on a little bit of water. I never considered it a big deal. The old girl doesn't get out much, so it's no big deal to change the...
Today, with the help of an experienced friend, I installed the new Pertronix distributor. My friend was very careful to identify the position of the rotor and body of the old distributor before...
Thanks everyone, I will report back next week when I get the new distributor installed.
I bought a marine Pertronix distributor through Summit Racing (very nice company to deal with).
I've never removed the distributor on a small block Ford, so I had a look online for information....
Sure got that right hate to keep throwing $ at it, but the distributor is all that's left. My brother may be right. The boat hasn't been out on the water for almost two years, could be it's just...
Yes, Tahoe, good call!
All good comments, and thank you. I am certain that there is some degree of coincidence at play here. So, I have been careful to keep going after things again to hopefully...
Yes, as stated above, voltage is good at the coil, thus at switch as well. The system does include a ballast resistor ahead of the coil. I have a jumper from the starter side of the relay to provide...
Can't get the old girl started. Seems like I've checked everything for the loss of a spark. Have voltage to a brand new coil, have tried (2) brand new replacement electronic ignition modules. Finally...
Does anyone know if there is some sort of dye I can put in the outdrive to make it easier to check the level? I can never see it on the dipstick, what is safe to use. Thanks
Dave
I don't mean to stir the pot, but I saw Matt's posting of his owner's book and found this interesting. Look at this scan from the owner's manual that I have for my 1969. Go figure....
(sorry it's a...
Don't forget to support the aft weight of the engine prior to removing the transom plate for the outdrive. I use a 2x4 across the hatch (padded of course) with with an eyebolt and chain bolted to the...
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Some kind of paper or cardboard. I've been using just plain old motor oil that the book calls for. I have never found any indication of oil leaking into the water from...
My '69 with no power trim or tabs, and the drive in the lowest position, gets 52 mph with only myself in the boat. Still have the original 302 h/m 235hp, and using a 19" blade. I've tried more pitch,...
I find it a real challenge to read the dipstick on my old Volvo 250. Without immediatly placing the dipstick on something like a piece of cardboard, it is nearly impossible to see the level. Does...
