no standard automobile rotation on the ford the volvo will spin either way .
if it is a Holman Mooody motor the serial number will tell you the rotation
the reverse rotation motors were usually put in a twin vdrive application one standard one reverse rotation
Perfect! Thanks for the reply. What was the reasoning for left hand in the first place?

Allan Brown
one of the treasures from the golden days of Don A, Donzi , and thunderboat row
the basics are Jim Wynne also from Donzi had a deal with Volvo and to stick it up Karl K. of mercury azz they used the volvo which could spin LH and put the steering on the left to negate prop torque so Merc was out on the early days of the go fast boom they couldn't do left at all.
of course Brownie tells it much better do a search you'll find the story
good luck with the boat
As Brownie tells it , contrary to all the other stories I had heard , Wynne intentionally put the steering on the port side coz then the boat would need a counter-rotating prop for (single driver) balance and only 'his' Volvo drive could be counter rotated . Thus meaning more sales for Volvo and more $$ for Wynne.
And yet Brownie called them the instruments of the Devil ....makes you think who the Devil was......hummmmmmm :shades:
