Sweet, and once again, the color is perfect.
Ken
Great video.
Boat seems very stable.
What are you using for mufflers?
With the camera solidly attached to the boat it does look stable :)
I used some 3" mufflers from Rex Marine if I rmember right. They are 10" long so they fit between the Osco exhaust and tips. They work very well and take a lot of the harshness out of normal 3" exhaust bark.
That is so nice...I could watch that over and over. Really excellent build, now I want to go work on my Ski Sporter, but it will take a lot of hard work to get her in that nice of shape. Thanks for representing for us Ski Sporter guys!
Bill that is a great clip! Boat looks to have no porpoise and sending a nice flat rooster at speed. What prop are you running now? Try to get Trueser to get some film of you underway. Again, nice to see the build in the water and crankin
Got to love the 16s.............still miss mine after 16 yrs.....Ed
goosebumps, goosebumps, goosebumps!!!
Very nice, Bill! How fast were you going? I remember you expected her to go around 50, looks much faster and I bet she is faster!
How fast? We are still working some "significant" engine issues, but mid-50s. So far :)
Congratulations Bill, well done. The boat looks awesome!
Thanks Marshall! The boats second lease on life.
I gave ya a thumbs up and linked it to my FB.
Thanks Carl.
I hope that we can run together one of these days (0nce I get my engine completely sorted out :) ). I had a chance a few weeks ago to meet Gregg and check out his boat. I love the pictures you posted with the two of your yellow boats together.
Had I been there, mine could have been the "cute" baby Donzi in the middle. :)
Boat is beautiful, and you did a nice job with the camera setup--video looks great. I'm going to have to create a fixed mount like that.
Mike,
The GoPro HD camera has a variety of different mounts available. Most people have been using the suction cup mount for boat videos. Brad (honey/blue 22) even took some with the camera suction mounted on the outside of the hull side just below the rubrail. They really stay put.
I also bought the "handlebar" mount. That is what was used for this. I mounted a short grab bar along the section behind the back seat, in front of the engine hatch. My experience in a 16 has been that it is very desirable to have a grab rail for each hand.
They have all kinds of adapters to let you be creative in the direction the camera aims.
The only down side to the bar mount, is the gear whine that is transmitted up through the hull. I haven't noticed that with videos others have shot using the suction mount.
Sounds great and looks good bill,,from the sound of it it kinda sounds like you may be going over the 4800 rpm mark...let me know the next time mike is headed to your neck of the woods and ill let you borrow the 26 p ultra this time,,fair warning this one will cut you so ware gloves when installing it,,it also has alot of cup in it so you may be down on rpms in the big end..If you like it then i will have my prop guy labb your 24 like my 26..
Thanks Mike. I am heading to the Adirondacks with the boat for a week. Their altitude is about 1,000 feet higher than Lake Michigan, so I don't know what, if any difference that will make. I will let you know how the 24 performs.
Thanks for the offer of the 26 Ultra. What's the story on changing gears in the outdrive? I have 1.61:1. What's lower (1.43:1?)? What's the expense?
The engine seems to like running to 4800. If I went with different gears, I could use these same props, but they would be spinning faster at a given rpm.
i would leave it 1.61,,the boat wont accelerate as fast with the lower gears and it will take longer to get on plane..People done realise that adding cup in a prop is like adding pitch..their was like 6-800 rpm differance between my 2 26 p ultras, until i tore the ear off of one of them ..
