After I made a comment in another thread about my favorite lake, I got a very nice response from Fasteddie about Lake George, including some very impressive pics. So, now it's time to find out where everying loves to play:

Mine is Lake Chelan, Washington.

So post pics and specs of your favorite place....

I can only imagine what that would sound like!! It's a lake when you here something with open exhaust coming, you know it!!
The only negative thing about the whole lake is that it's a 4 hour tow over a 4500' Mountain Pass, but once or twice a year, new brakes on the tow rig are worth it!!

Eric:
No doubt, you enjoy a beautiful lake. Your boat is nice too.
I enjoy Lake Winnipesaukee (except for when I have to spell it), in NH. Lake's so nice at about 6am WOT.

Most of my boating is done on the inland lakes of Central Ohio. We have quite a few to choose from. Indian lake, Lake St.Marys, Buckey Lake, Alum Creek, among others. I hope to get down to the Ohio River this summer. Marietta and or Cincinnati Riverboat festivals. Cumberland ranks high in KY, Lake Norman in NC, Lake Willie in SC, Raystown in PA, and an occasional trip up to the Lake Erie is always fun. Would like to get to both Lake George and the Thousand Islands in NY. So many lakes and not near enough time in life. To pick a favorite out of these examples would be very hard for me. We are usually not only enjoying my boat, but some sort of boat racing event also.

Just one of the many places I like is Dog Island on the Florida Panhandle. White sand beaches, turquoise water, no bridge access, very few people if any, deep water access - very rustic, bring everything.

Forrest, you are truly the Graphic Master!

A great spot in Michigan is Torch Lake. (Up near the baby finger as you look at your left hand facing away from you...) It has the most amazing color of water, for an inland lake, that you'll ever see.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, in the Upper Peninsula, is another spectacular Michigan site (and sight!).

Hmmmm, well it really doesn’t get much better up on Winnipesaukee on a late Sunday afternoon. This is when most of the weekenders have gone home so you can take a few bleeps around the Lake without the cluster &^@! going on.

Unfortunately, I have only made it up to Winni to put in/ pull out the docks for the most part in the past couple of years. I have been hanging out by Martha’s Vineyard in a small cove that we end up having around 15 – 25 boats tie up to. It’s a pretty cool run through Woods Hole that has some serious currant ripping through it. It’s nothing like Lake Winni though!

Hey Forrest,
Is that near Destin, FL? I went down there a few years back about 2 weeks after a hurricane hit Pensacola, FL dead on. It was still a cool place to hang out for a long weekend.

I am with Tony, Pictured Rocks is great!
I make it there at least once a year, usaully more. Despite the fact that there can be ice in April, the black flies can carry you away in May, it can kick up and scare the s**t out of you in minutes, and you can only swim in August... the sandstone cliffs, sea caves, water falls, shipwrecks and seclusion is worth it!
Another place on Lake Superior is the Apostle Islands... great exploring the light houses and the 22 islands. And of course the sand dunes on Lake Michigan are always fun.
Well, I better stop... I can really get excited talking about favorite boating spots!

The Les Cheneaux Islands in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula is another awesome boating area. Of course I'm kind of biased, since I live here! We have 36 Islands situated in Northern Lake Huron, which provide many sheltered channels, bays big enough to open 'er up and let 'er rip, and mile upon mile of beautiful scenery. And if the weather is right, we can blast over to Mackinac Island in less than 20 minutes.

It's a pretty relaxed atmosphere for boating, with minimal marine law enforcement or noise hassles. As long as you use a little common sense, and use some basic marine courtesy, maximum fun can be had.

EricG I find it interesting that you enjoy Lake Chelan so much. There is a boat just behind the seaplane in one of your pictures that looks like it may be mine. I live on Lake Chelan and take many trips uplake. Actually I just returned this afternoon after a day on the lake. What I am curious about is how your boat handles the straights. I am tired of paying for 100+ gallons of fuel to get my Carver up lake and I don't like beating myself up in the wind in my 20' boat. I am looking at buying a 24' Donzi but I don't know how they handle big waves. I assume the do well but have never had any experience with this type of boat. What is your boat? How long? Power? What ever you care to share about your experience on our lake would greatly impact my decision. Or at least it would give me a good idea.

p.s. after I wrote this I saw that you had already replied to my post earlier. Sorry about asking the same questions that you already answered. I am hoping to get out in that Blackwidow in the next week but I don't know if I have time to get all the way to San Bernadino and back before Memorial Weekend. I own a boat rental business here and that is the beginning of my season. I don't think I would rent the Donzi but it would be nice for the times that people call from Stehekin and have dropped the boat keys in the lake (happened 2 times last year, both times the float broke off).

Thanks,
Chris

Working for a boat manufacturer, I tend to get around to most of the spots listed - all are very nice - I need to get to more western lakes.

Stromer Favorites are:

Salt Water - SARASOTA FL, CHESAPEAKE BAY

FRESH WATER - LAKE NORMAN NC, LAKE GEORGE NY, LAKE WINNIE NH, and TAHO MEAD and POWELL

Actually, anywhere there are DONZIs or anywhere powerboats are selling!!!!!

We boat at Clear Lake Indiana and it is in the most Northeast corner. If you drive one mile north you are in Michigan and east five miles you are in Ohio. It is small lake but very clean. http://www.clearlakefun.org/
