I was a bit miffed that I didn't get Member Number 007. Must be reserved for some hotshot!

AHHHHH you guys are so easily entertained....
I could say that #1 is in memory of the legendary DON but unfortnately the big mystery is as follows:
#1 is the default Admin account that came with the online Bulletin board package. This account has since been disabled.

My apologies for the unglamorous answer

Wasn't there an eariler sysop before Harbormaster took the helm? I'd say he was member #1.

If you look back in the archives you'll see that I was posting on May 25, 1997. The site was very small then, not alot going on. Shortly after that I met Gene D. and looked at a Donzi here in Orlando for him.

Big thing then was the splash page or picture. Can't remember.

The originl donzi registry had 15 members
and 15 registed boats. It did not have its own domain. It ran on a cheesy freebie message board.
The original owner, Jim Cancil, paid an employee to do the web stuff for him.

I asked if he needed any help and he asked if I wanted to take it over. I said yes and the rest is history. Its been about 3 years ago believe.

The current board runs on its own domain, with purchased bulletin board software that has been customised. I have also automated the boat registration and photo posting process.

Any other questions?

I still speak to Jim Cancil from time to time and even though he sold his Donzi, we are all indebted to him for his vision and foresight. Just like Don, he started it all.

My vote for Member #1 is for Jim Cancil

I recall when Scot told the forum of his struggles and all the good wishes that poured in.

Wish those wishes could have translated in to health for Scot.

Rest in Peace.
