Hello,

I'm looking for a Donzi 18 2+3 project boat, and wondered if I could get some input from the board on values. I'm interested in late 60's to early 70's 18's - typically Ford smallblock, with either Mercruiser or Volvo drives. I'm looking for a basically solid boat that hasn't been abused, understanding that it will probably require an interior, motor and drive rebuild, possibly paint or gelcoat, deck recoring, etc. I'd appreciate if you guys could give me a ballpark range of what pricing you've seen in the past.

Here's a few from the "For Sale" spot:
'67=$ 8,900
'68=$ 7,800 (might be a 16)
'74=$14,500
'86=$15,000
'86=$13,500
'8?=$ 9,000
'87=$11,000
'91=$17,500
'94=$15,000
'01=$26,000
These all appear, by description, to be boats in very good to excellent condition; seems like I've seen potential projects of 16's and 18's for as low as $2,500. Those are, no doubt, pretty rough, but it seems I've seen some "decent" to "very nice" boats in the $4,500 to $10,000 range. I know that's a pretty big range. I'm sure others here have a good idea. Seems like I buy traders more than newspapers! Good Luck.

1 year ago I bought a 1969 16 for $3000. The boat is very solid no rotted stringers or deck cores.All original Holman Moody boat. Still has the H/M manifolds,all hardware intact. The engine is very strong,the outdrive is fine,even the power tilt works.The boat hull is very oxidized was pink/white but I have brought that back to life with extensive wetsanding and buffing.The deck and cockpit has severe gelcoat cracking and blistering. The boat sat outside for many years.
Hope this helps.

Got $9000 on trade for a 98 22' Classic for the boat pictured in my avatar under my board name. It was a 69 18' H/M Donzi with new Built-Rite interior and original gel. It was probably a 6 in a 1 to 10 rating.

Opps, Harbormaster removed it. (Thank-you)

I`ve bought several classics that were fixer uppers. I paid 5000 for a decent 1983 18 2+3 that was all there but had a cracked block from not winterizing. A 1965 16', no motor but a real nice boat and a new built rite interior with trailer for 2500. another complete 1972 16' for 4000 ran like new. and a 1966 18 2+3 v drive for 1700. that was a deal :D

You got a heckuva deal Mr. Bolts... they sold your 18 for 6000 bucks... drats...

sad part is the gentlemen who purchased it is said to be well to put it kindly not so sociable. It's been sittin in the water all summer and fall and i can only imagine what the bottom looks like... had a really green line about half way up the hull when doug and i cruised by it a few weeks back. :mad:

that's me.. always a day late... literally... :(

I'm doing some leg work on a 68 18 all original low hours needs some gel work, as not been in water in several years the marina/owner thinks it is a rare collectible worth 20K plus??? they feel donzi will by it back for posterity sake or for an historic keepsake, I don't think that's gonna happen, it's been in dry storage for years and is probably worth 4k to 7k
depending on running condtion. value is in the eye of the owner

Jamie,
That explains quite a bit. I've tried to contact the new owner through e-mail with no response back. Last note I got from him was after he test ran the boat and how glad he was that I had left it original. Also mentioned how he was going to restore the boat to new condition so I too was glad it went to someone willing to put the time and dollars it needed into it. Maybe not..... Offer was made to me with the 18 site unseen. Made it unpassable for me. Maybe they were just sad they couldn't make the SE happen either for what I felt was a very reasonable offer from Roadtrip and I on 2 SE's. I think Roadtrip SE may have goten the last laugh though from what I saw at Eufaula! :p Sweet looking and running 22 Classic Todd! Maybe that's also why the dealership is gone now also. :confused:

Mr. Magoo:

What are you doing with your 18' 2+3 V-drive? Is it still for sale? If so, how much?

What did you get for it? I'm looking at another 18' V-drive with some history. The owner's on the fence about selling so I need to come up with a fair offer.
