Would like some input on buying-I've owned a 16 with a V8-a Minx, and a GT-21 over the years- Got the bug again and have come across two well cared for boats- an 18 with 300 hrs 350 eng and Volvo penta drive and a 22 classic 454 OMC king cobra outdrive - both boats will be trailered to large fresh water lakes and on vacation. Both are Mid 90's when Chris Craft was building them.
Which one is the boat I will want to keep and enjoy??

This has been debated numerous times. Only you can decide what is best for you.
The 22 can handle rougher water and is a drier ride, but it's not as much fun.
The 18 is better for skiing and tubing and all out smiles, but you won't be smiling as much if the lake really kicks up.
Personally, I would prefer an 18, but it doesn't suit the waters I usually boat in.

I agree with yeller
I have a GT21, a Chris Craft xk22, an X18, a DanArena XL21, and a Formula Jr (just to name a few---BTW I have a problem)
The X18 is a real kick. I have more fun in that boat than any I have ever owned.
On the other side, the passengers have a different opinion. Not as much fun in the back seat.
You cannot have a beer in the 18 unless you are idling or sitting.

If it was a boat for me and girlfriend, wife or just buddy, I'd go with the 18 all day.
If you have a family, Id go with the 22.

The 22 is small enough for small lakes and big enough to take off-shore.

Inches really matter.:kingme: If I had to choose, take the 22.

As has been said above, each are good for different things. One other thing to consider is trailering it. Can you fit the 22 in your garage and pull it with your current tow rig. Just another .02

I've owned both the 18c and 22c. The 18 is fun to play with on smooth water. The 22 is fun to play with no matter what the water.
It's small enough to tow without problems and big enough to handle the Misses and all the gear that accompanies a Misses and almost any water you run into.
