Came across a posting on Craigslist as how many of our impulse buys start! My wife who is also in this with me and a avid boater said she liked the 22 Classic. (She's an Architect and has nice taste). So I found one and decided to look into it a bit farther. Never owning a Donzi I did my homework on the Classic's without using a Boat Survey. Everything from history to changes through the years and what works with this and that so I don't ask stupid questions to receive stupid answers like use the search....Which I've been on Offshoreonly for a few years and many other forums as I own a few other boats as well. But my main quest here is to keep a History Log of the one I have. The Gentleman that owned the boat was Leo Miller. His name on here is SLICK. Im a history nut and love a boat or project that has a story. So here's the beginning...I found his original For sale thread....So Check it out! But its sad how much it's changed.

Please if anybody has any connections please send him this post. His email here doesn't work and I don't think I can send messages yet but I would love to show him plans and unfortunately it's current condition. Lets just say I'll be saving another Classic from a long time of sitting. But the guy he sold it to in MD had passed away and it was handed down to his son and that's how I came across it. It will be powered with a healthy 454 and newly gone through and dressed Bravo 1. Speeds should be in the Mid 70's but In the end this is overall the Misses Classic and as you can tell she's pretty excited. It will be on the Chesapeake this year and that's where it will be for a long time. We have a lot of ideas and it has the famous Gel Coat Blisters and some cracking around the hatch that will all be fixed better then new. With some new paint ideas and colors as well. If you have any ideas please share. I'm thinking SeaFoam Green like some the the Mako's on the entire side and stripe up top or solid up top and stripe on the side. We still have all the Procharger brackets if it ever went back to that but I think at this point she just needs some seat time! Cheers y'all and happy to be officially part of the group! More pics to come!

Thanks Mike! We are located in the Joppa/Rumsey Island area. (Gunpowder Cove) We have new owners in our local Marina and it supports the Powerboaters! So all of us up here are extremely stoked to get out this spring!

I want to better my fiberglassing skills and love working on boats and love custom setups so I wanted a nice platform that was worth my while. I think I picked a pretty good one!

Congrats and welcome!

I had my first Donzi ride when I was 7.

I've probably spent 100 days/year on the water for the last 40 years in all kinds of boats - power and sail.

And every Donzi ride, still reminds me of our old Ski Sporter.

Enjoy.

BTW, lots of fun pondering new paint. I'm a fan of the seafoam...

Looks nice. Glad you took the plunge. All the colors are fine so choose your poison but, IMO, it has to still have a stripe along the deck! Get some seat time because if you've never driven a Classic then you can throw a lot of what you know about driving a boat out the window! Keep us up to date on the progress. :cool!:

Yes I agree i'd like to keep the original stripe on the top also because if the Misses lays on the deck the surface won't be as hot as a solid color. But to your driving comment YES! It will take some time to get used to it. I've had lots of seat time in Deep V hulls so this will be a fun and exciting learning experience. The engine going in is a well built 454 with around 550 Hp. So it will be a slow and steady start especially to see how it handles and what works prop wise. But IMO that's the best part!
