Saw this brand new carbon-fiber boat in Sebastian, FL. Couple guys from Ontario built it, and have been sea-trialing it for a few days. Buzzes along at 85 mph, thanks to 7 Marine's 627 hp outboard. Man...that thing is huge!

Thx cool photos and certainly different but doesn't having a wacker that big kinda defeat the idea of being able to "see" your skiers?

IMO before I spent $125k on that rig I'd buy this mint old school Excalibur 27 with twin smokers that is coming up for sale next week for $20k

Yes, that is a 627, and the same engine as a 'Vette. Standing next the the outboard, I was astounded by the size. Years (!) ago I remember being envious of the tall, skinny Mercs - all 115 horses. Our little 65hp on a 13.5' Glastron did quite well, though, since we were light little things back then. It topped out at about 36, but then slowed down to 32 after stepping off a modified slalom ski. We self-taught ourselves how to barefoot at 12 years old, and had many years of big fun behind that little boat. It could pull two of us if we had on tennis shoes, and one of our coolest stunts was building a ramp that we barefooted over. Our mom made us wear an old motorcycle helmet...damn thing always made me feel top-heavy!

Yes, Ken, we are definitely enjoying retirement. We're currently doing a snowbird thing - and loving both the climate and activities wintering in Sebastian, FL. It was tough moving from our 22' Classic to a pair of kayaks - but I'm adjusting!

My guess is that retirement will suit you, too - you have the perfect constitution for it. I'm hoping to swing through your new neck of the woods some day, as we traverse between FL and VA. Take care, and say hi to your wonderful bride Terri!
