I want to install an electrical sender type oil temp gauge on my '92 Ford 302 HO. I tried once before, placing the sender in "T" I placed in the 1/4" nipple off the front of the motor that runs to the oil pressure sender. I wasn't able to get a temp reading although the pressure switch still gave a reading. I know in the pan is best but I'm not pulling the motor for this.

Anyone familiar enough with this motor to suggest another location for the sender?

The boat is 250 miles away now but I don't recall any. Just gettin' anywhere near the bottom of the bilge in a Sweet 16 is difficult enough. I also need to check if there are any threaded plugs at the oil filter bracket.

We've had this discussion before, and the only place you can expect an anywhere near accurate reading is in the oil pan, or the entrance to a remote oil filter, if it's before an oil cooler.
Nowhere else will you have any accuracy.

Right you are George. Maybe 2-3 years ago. Unfortunately I can't find that thread. I know we agreed the pan is the best location. There is a fitting low on the pan on the port side but I can't recall the connections to it. I'd like to find a plug on the oil filter housing as a fairly good alternate location that's easily reached. My old bones just can't thread myself into the bilge like I used to :shocking:

When in back home from the River in 2 weeks i'll check around.

I live in the Lehigh Valley but we spend most of the summer in the Thousand Islands. Unfortunately I'm boatless this Summer due to bad knees so I'm here and my little Donzi is all alone in the garage :garfield: . I should be home around August 9th for a few days so I'm trying now to get ready to find a good tap.
