The laser 2 is great on the 16 with under 300 horsepower in my opinion. When the power and weight of the boat go up I don't think the laser is as good as the mirage. It's diameter is too small

I keep telling you guys that these old school hulls love the Rev 4. A rev 4 will lift that Minx like no 3 blade can. You will gain 3-5mph mid range and not loose more than 1mph on top.:lookaroun:

For 6yrs  25p same prop

my 16 4.3 alpha best top speed @58

6.2 18 Bravo loves it, 5 K much more stable @ 68-69-70

I read Smokediver posts way back when , and bought one :cool!:

But, this is compared to a M + :)

Thanks. The Mirage 25P I'm running tops out at 48K to 49K. It seems to blow out a little and cavitate to 5K at WOT . I put the boat on the trailer to go on a trip and noticed the skeg guard had fallen off wich might have caused the blow out at 70 MPH. The yoke bearing blew out on the SE106 upper on the trip. So I put a used OEM upper/lower on. I would Love to run the Rev 4 but it's not in the budget. The Laser II's are about 1/2 the price used. I'm thinking a 27P with ventilation might be worth a try.

I ran a labbed 27 laser2 on my 16 that had a healthy 383 . It was 120 bucks so no harm there . I think there is a point where pitch and diameter meet, meaning while a smaller diameter prop of a higher pitch maybe turning more rpm, the slip % goes up and you are better off with a little less pitch and more diameter . I experimented with a bunch of props on the 16. The 4.3 loved the laser2 as did a bone stock 350 . The 383 was making a little over 400 horsepower and I believe i settled on a turbo1. The very fastest prop I tried on both my 16 and my present 22 is a Tempest plus . I know it is more of an outboard prop for elevated propshaft applications, but it is really damn fast !! The Rev4 is actually a 4 bladed tempest plus . Not the best handling but it is 3 mph faster than my Rev4, which is the best all around for me .

I ran a Hydro Q-4, 22X15.5" prop on my old Minx.
It was the very best prop I ever tried. It would never blow out,
and after doing the hook removal work on the bottom, it had 7% slip at times.
But the most amazing thing (to me anyway) was it would trim almost
to the limit switch (maybe 80% on the trim gauge). At that point, it simply got squirrely. No chine walking
or blow out, just squirrely. At that trim, it ran 65 MPH @4700 RPM.
The power was a 320 HP 350.

OTOH, on the TR, the 27" Mirage will blow out instantly at about 10% trim. At that point the prop would not recover
and you have to stop.

I also tried a Turbo 1 3 blade on my 22C. It was a good prop; similar to but maybe a little better than my Mirage (nonplus). I think the price of Turbo is more resonable than Merc. I tried a cople of Turbo 4 blade props but non compare to the Mec Rev 4.
