That is a converted 22 I/O, and a bad one at that :boggled:

I've gathered some pretty good detail on the true factory 22 Classic OB.

It was built in 1982 (Hull #DMR220521182OB) but did not leave the factory until 1983 with a new V6 Evinrude 235 on the back. It was then re-rigged by the factory with twin Yamaha 220 V6 Specials in late 1985. That was the first year for the "220 Special" which actually made 240hp. When I had my Team Warlock brought back from Lake Havasu the original 1985 Yamaha 220 weedeater was on the back of my 1987 hull. Go figure. Then the 22 Classic had the twins removed and a 300hp 25" V8 was installed. It did 62mph with that motor. Then a 275hp 20" Evinrude V8 was installed. The date of both V8 installs are not known unfortunately. Former board member Woodsy who can't be reached had the boat with both V8's.

He then sold it to Scot (RIP) who ruined a piece a Donzi history by converting it to an I/O.

Port steering seems interesting. Not sure what that means about the lineage...

Yes, I was being extremely sarcastic with my post.

I wouldn't say Scot ruined the boat. It was for sale for a long time. Every board member on here had a chance to buy it, but nobody wanted it. From what I heard, it ran like crap with the OB.
I commend Scot for taking a boat that nobody else wanted and make it into a respectable running boat.

It ran like crap because it was never set up properly by folks who new what they were doing starting with running a 25" mid. A shame really :frown:
