Well, it's the end of March and it's still snowing.... I can't touch either of my boats but, that doesn't stop me working on them. (Planning and preparation helps me keep my sanity.)

Unfortunately, when it comes to wiring I'm at a total loss. I mean I'm no electrician but, in school I studied Geography so, I can read a map :) . I can follow a wiring diagram especially one with the correct marine wire codes.

The issue is I can't seem to find one. It just seems to me that basically all these boats have similar components and a somewhat universal wiring harness diagram should be something that's out there. I have them for every car I ever restored and some of them were complicated.

I have found plenty of individual sections for a diagram. Am I just nuts or does this diagram exist? Of course I realize that individual riggers probably custom make each harness for each boat but, there's so much in common and it wouldn't be hard to make a diagram that was expandable and able to handle some options (dual batteries, stereo systems, cabin lights etc...).

I really want a great install so, ............ Does anyone have a complete wiring diagram for a single engine boat with full gauges and lights?

Here's the level of what my install would look like in a perfect world (perfection just takes time)

Thanks for any and all help!

Sean
when I rewired the hornet I used a merc wiring scheme and used a modern merc wiring harness. I rigged the boat so that if the deck needs to come off all the elctro/mechanical can be disconnected from the bottom and the deck canbe lifted.

I used ebasic power to source the harnesses they were more economical than merc and just as good quality wise.

use this to the gauges from the engine I cut the square plug off and crimped/soldered rings and eyes to go on the gauges

use this on the engine I found a merc bracket that mounted to the intake

I used this as a guide this also brought the od volvo up to a standard color code

http://www.lgdonziclassic.com/pdfs/merc.pdf

hope that helps

then just keep in mind there are two circuits switched and un-switched

Sean, Matty is correct. The e Basic Power harnesses are hard to beat.
But someone sent me a Donzi schematic for an 18. I discovered all classic schematics are the same except for the length of runs.
If you like, I'll send you one, just email me your address.

George if you don't mind send me a copy too I'd like to have that in the library email is m n m veth at optonline dot net

yes I forgot to mention the harnesses come in different lengths I think I used a 23 footer on the 19 hornet when a 16 would have worked but then I had spare color code correct jumpers if i needed them

Guys, I have paper copies. So, I need actual mailing addresses.
I also found Office Depot can blow up these drawings (B size) to most any size you might want.
