Bit of a memory test. Somebody re-did a Donzi and installed white rubrail with a SS insert. I've searched and can't find it. Wanted to take a look at the pics again if anyone knows which boat and/or where the thread is.

Cool, thanks! Does that mean you remember the boat/thread I'm thinking of, or is maybe the OB done the same way?

Thanks. For starters, some pics to decide if I want to consider something other than just the usual thin, sexy metal rails. If so, then I'll be trying to figure out what cross section.

The product you are looking for can be bought from:

Don't recall which boat you are referring to, but was the rubrail like this:

81235

That's the stock rail on my 2004. I believe all the newer Classics have this rail.

Yes, thanks, that's the sort I was looking for. Was hoping to see close ups from above and below if it's possible to grab a couple of pics. Also, a full side shot of the boat would be great. (As I ponder the plastic with insert versus stainless-only choice.)

Finally got you some pics.
The close up ones aren't very clear, so if you would like better pics or measurements, let me know.
I also have the original pics that I can email if you want a higher resolution to zoom in on.

The measurement of my rubrail is misleading in those pics. I remeasured again and it is 1 5/8". Not 1 3/8" as it looks in the pic.

Trueser found an exact match for my rubrail. If you're interested: http://store.barbourcorp.com/rubrailflexiblerub-rail02002black-2-4-3.aspx

I put a new rubrail on my Hornet on Friday, but I went with the original aluminum J rail

I re-used my 28 year old TACO Marine J-rail aluminum rail by cleaning it up w/a file and sandpaper,
followed by "Crushed Silver" powdercoat. It will hold up for years w/little or no attention.

Looks great George!!!

How about scribing a line above the screw line under the rub rail like Cobalt? This reduces the spider cracks in the future.

I had the deck glassed back on the Critter.

I had forgotten about the line to stop the cracking, good idea. Similarly, much of my hull-to-deck joint is now glassed, as well as being glued and screwed all the way around.

George's J-rail looks fantastic. Fit/styling looks perfect and the paint really pops against the red gelcoat. Can't wait to see that out in the sun, in person I hope.

I think I'd opt for that shape of rail myself if I could. Sadly, I need a way to mount a full cover with the boat in the water and I'm trying to avoid swiss-cheesing my newly re-worked hull with a zillion snaps screwed onto the glass. Leaning toward a slightly different shape of aluminum rail that will allow snaps to mount on the underside of the rail....

You can see George's boat in person at Tavares on March 27.

Also, this style will allow snaps under the rail and looks and performs great. Loos the the first, second or third rail at this site. Tell Alan your my friend and he will treat you right.
