A good friend of mine took off last Friday on his Gullwing to cover all of the lower 48 states in a 10 day trip. Even with all the rain he has now covered all the eastern US states as is now in Colorado to cover all the western states. It looks like he will make it! We all told him that he was insane before he took off, but Lonnie is a machine when he sets his mind on something. His Gullwing looks futuristic with all the electronics and modifications .

My Dad solo'd from Ct to Alaska's Bering Straight and back for his 70th Birthday on his Goldwing.
He likes to "go walkabout" and wanted to hit all of the Provinces. At one point he had a road standoff with a very large Bear in the Northwest Territory. His idea of going for a ride is like your buddies

Lonnie got his Iron Butt earlier this year. He just covered 1255 miles today after spending last night for over an hour near a tornado holding his bike from blowing over in a torrential rainstorm. They should offer a titanium butt - :worthy: Definitely not for most of us including me!

Your father has that same adventurous spirit! I would see far too many distractions that I would be stopping to check out. Anywhere I go, I spend time checking out nature, history, geology, etc.

"Marshmallow ass" LOL!

Rolling up a lot of miles must be an "American" thing. I'm a boater. I spend as much time on the water as possible, and still manage to put between 6,000 to 9,500 miles on the old Goldwing per season. In Michigan, no less. :biggrin.:

I guess I would be called a candyass. I have only ridden a motorcycle once with an old friend years ago - they scare me too much. I have owned two motorcycles through deals that I made, but I never drove them :nilly:.

Too funny! I just now realized that I was calling it a Gullwing motorcycle when it is a Honda Goldwing.

My personal best was the bay to bay (Chesapeake to Delaware) ride ; 108 miles in 10 hours. The seasoned riders were doing it in less 5 hrs.

I was 15+ years younger then

It sounds like quite a few Donzi guys are also motorcycle or bicycle enthusiasts. I am still impressed by Lonnie's successful trip. I would never have believed that anyone could drive to all the lower 48 states in only 10 days. :nilly:
