Ok, I have a Sweet 16 5.0 Ford / OMC drive.

In order to just float the boat with the drive up. How much water do I need?

I ask as my boat will pass through our shallow canal now with the drive up, though will hit a little unless I push down on the bow. I bet there is like 1 1/2 of water in the canal now.

I ask as I have always wanted a Correct Craft / Mustang / Nautique style 16 ski boat. Maybe we will get one if it floats in a similar way - but wanted to see if I can get an actual number of what the Donzi requires, I am on another forum trying to get the same spec on one of those ski boats. I do not care about driving it through, just need to float it walk it through a canal about 24 feet long, before and after it deepens.

I know many of you have experience with boats other than Donzis is why I thought I would ask.

Regards, Tim

Take it out with only a few gallons of gas in it fill up once past the low spot and bring back empty, all kidding aside it is a 24* bottom and although I haven't measured the draft I'll bet it prolly doesn't draft much more if anymore than an inboard flat bottom ski boat as you described in the nautic's

the literature says 26 inches on the sweet 16 which I would think is down no mention of up

http://www.lgdonziclassic.net/pdfs/sweet16.pdf

and 29 inches down for the classic 16 and 12 inches up

the range on a ski boat seems to go from around 22 - 29 inches but with a ski boat if you hit or get stuck you are on your running gear not just scuffing the bottom

thanks guys, yeah I did some research and don't think a ski boat will work....I am hoping an 18 Donzi will fit width wie through canal, Donzi 18 is 84 inches, canal is 84 inches wide, so maybe take off rub rail replace with a nice custom made aluminum band type rub raid..really want to find someone in Southern Maine that will come float their 18 through the canal.
