I have a 1994 red and white 18 great condition raised hatch lid. Also a completely redone 87 Minx absolutely beautiful all new paint interior wiring gauges etc white with black stripe. Both have stock 350 (260) Alpha with standard bennett tabs. I also have the following performance stuff in my garage. Mild 383 (est 325 horse)/Emi thunder SBC exhaust/performance HEI dist/Complete IMCO dual ram full to helm hydraulic system/Alpha SS.

Which one do I put it in? IMO the Minx handles water way better than 18, But 18 is riot to drive as is but a bit scary for most folks I am 69 years old. Ps I may have to sell the one I don't rig up.

Are you on a calm lake, or is it usually choppy?
Do you boat with one passenger or a load of grandkids?
Either one will be fun depending on conditions.

Ralph, I'm 69 also.
Go w/the Minx! You'll appreciate its particular talents more as time goes by.
My Minx would go 65 w/320 HP, or so, and did well in rougher water.

Dont waste you time installing the S/S on the Minx. Zero benefit.

I tried.

I tried. Ken Ken is 100% absolutely correct..... you can put the SS on the 18 and it will be a 66-67 mph boat overnight, and tons of fun with the right prop... sell it like that... keep the stock Alpha as a spare and rig up the Minx with the new package, you'll be glad you did
