I'm having a problem with running hot between 1200-2500 rpms. Could the tee balls in the thermostat housing be restricting my lower rpm water flow? In doesn't run hot per the temp gauge, but I can smell exhaust gaskets. I'm running Dana manifolds and extended risers.

No the function of the balls is to allow flow to the risers until the Tstat opens, then they stay seated at normal RPM's. Someone may have set the tension to tight, if the tension is to tight they will not pass enough water. Are you running an Alpha drive?
