Holy Smokes

I found this 1974 Cig 20 in Minneapolis spring 2011 and bought it with the intentions of restoring it someday. It had set for 3+ years but was still in decent shape, so I ran it like it was for a couple years. Early fall 2012 we bought our lakehouse at LOTO at the 41MM and got the dock and lift all set to take the Cig. Spring 2013 I took it out of storage and was all ready to pull it to its new home at the 41, but found one tie-down eye had started to pull through the transom…. Yes, rotted transom. It was time to start the project.
I wanted to keep a lot of the classic theme, but update with modern power and rigging. Engine is a Merc 383 Mag Stroker through Bravo 1.

Ended up taking it to Performance Boat Center at LOTO to let them take the lead.
A quick breakdown to give credit….
De-rig – PBC
Transom and engine hatch glass work – Paint Rite in Camdenton
Re-rig – PBC
Found bad stringers (why not done with the transom?… long story)
Stringer replacement – Big Boys Fiberglass Repair in Camdenton (great experience)
Hatch Paint and Final Rigging – PBC
Teak gauge panels and teak stripes – me
Huge thanks to Andy at PBC for all the rigging and set-up and for responding to my countless texts and emails.
Time to test some props and maybe think about paint and interior next.
