Some of you might enjoy seeing a pair of bald eagles which are nesting near my home in north Texas. I took these pictures Wednesday.

----Very cool pics, Bill! We also have had a dose of bald Eagles this past winter on the St.Clair river, They were out on the ice flows in front of our house every day. Bad part was that they were picking on the ducks,,,,literally! Not a pretty sight but true nature at its narliest..........Bill S

Same here on Mashpee Wakeby on Cape Cod. We had 6 immature and 2 mature bald eagles here all winter. They sit on the ice and eat the ducks that congregate in what little open water is left. Lots of skeletal remains around. Now that the osprey have returned with the Herring running into the lake, the eagles have left.

Thanks so much for the nice compliments. It makes me feel good that you guys like the eagle pictures as much as I do. I sure got lucky that they were together and the lighting was near perfect. They were approximately 150 yards away so I had to use most of the 50X adjustable telephoto to bring them in.

No, it is weird to me. Their huge nest is about 100' from the branch they were perched on. The nearest part of Texoma is roughly 4 miles from their nest so we are guessing they might not do a lot of fishing, but some. We saw one of them last October at a cattle pond about 1/2 miles from their nest where they probably get some meals.
Interestingly, we know where a pair of barn owls hang out so we went there last weekend and I studied their scat. There was lots of fur and small rodent skulls. Maybe the eagles have to partly rely on small rodents like the owls?

Pics 1 & 3 are the money shots! Great view of both the heads. No clutter in the background and the branch they are perched on looks good. Nat. Geo. has a section called "your shots". I'd do a little cropping and maybe color enhancement and send them in if they were mine and they might get published.

Thats what I'd expect, though I don't know. Thinking they hunt during daylight unlike the owls, and that rabbits and squirrels are on the menu a lot. Other birds too.

If they eat white cattle egrets, they would have no problem finding food. Ironically, when I was taking those pictures a couple of squirrels were playing their run after each other game only 100 yards away from the eagles. I told my wife they were probably not long for this world. Some of the local cattle ponds might be stocked with fish like so many guys do around here. During our two visits to see these eagles (spending as much as 30 mintutes on this trip), I don't recall seeing or hearing any other birds - the word must be out -
