Wow! That was my first X-18!

And I believe it is a 1976, not a 1974. DMR1813705 76-X.

The owner's name is Joe; 781-838-2759

I purchased that trailer in about 1985. The interior has been redone, as that is not the color of the original, which was the light blue with red piping. The engine was replaced just before I got it and is a little more potent than the normal 260 hp. It has a dual remote oil filter, and when the boat came from the factory, it actually had an e-drive on it, which is why there is a transom mounted water pick up on the starboard side. This was my first Donzi, and I wasn't too sharp. I agreed to purchase it for $1,500 less, because the seller had someone else who wanted the e-drive. I didn't know any better, so I took the boat with the 270 lower. What a dummy!

The pictures below are from when he listed it for sale last time. I didn't copy the pictures from this ad.

I thought I recognized it, Bill. Its the sister ship to mine - DMR181360576X. I remember talking about it before. Funny, it's located less than 20 miles from me...

The e-drive was Volvo's narrow, bullet, super slippery racing lower unit. Good for about 6 mph as a bolt on.

Ed, I tried to buy it back from him for 2 years after I learned where it was. He said no.

I bought the 16, travelled 1,500 miles in a week end to get it. Then about a month or two after that, he called and said he was ready to sell.

What is a person to do?

Bert many Magnums had them for racing in the early 70's before Mercruiser came out with the Trs Drive. Volvo made them originally for there 6cyl engine & drive package that was used in a racing class over there. They are faster than a stock 270 [it's the lower foot] drive but can be marginal with V-8 American power. There are many on the bottom of Lake St Clair from the 70's offshore racing days. Mark

Marc,
Is it the rope that makes them faster??

It is not rope, it is magic rope. And yes, that is what makes them faster.
