from Providence is very inviting. It will be very soon here on Narragansett Bay. I can't freekin wait!!!

Oh what a difference 600 miles makes .
Despite normally getting the tail end of every system that wreaks havoc on the US east coast a few days later , we've had one of the mildest winters for many years.
And we just about put an end to the 4 year drought at the same time.
Foliage and plants that should not be budding/producing for another month have all come out 2 months early.

Right now it's a comfy 70f with a moderate (for us) humidity count of about 71%. Mind you it could all change in 2 days .

No boating in sight for a while though .

Yup! And lots of warm clothes! Thankfully I live just off Lake Oakland and I'd better be boating in April but this weather is just plain depressing. One 60* sunny day would sure lift a lot of spirits around here! (and melt a lot of ice!)

I'm with you on that Carl. My normal program is April Fools to Thanksgiving Day. The winds here have been cranking and we can't seem to string together a bunch of good warm days. To think that I was on the water last year on December 22nd and it was 72.

Been blowing 40+ around here off and on for 2 days. Supposed to warm up to the mid 60's the next couple days but then drop back to the mid 50's for highs the couple days after it.
Did I mention I live in the mid Atlantic. Some call this a southern state. I have never seen a fall winter and spring like this. We really had 6 months of winter (below freezing at least once a day). This is early March weather not 5 days from May.

I stretch my boating season too. In 2012 I was boating March 12. 14 and on Lake St. Clair the 21st with record highs in the 80s. 2011-12 was the mildest winter I've ever seen. 2013-14, the harshest. I might possibly get out on Lake Oakland Monday for a quick run to make sure everything is OK but the high will be 58 and mostly cloudy. :( The boat's been ready to go for a couple of weeks.

I've never gotten out in December. It was warm enough a few years ago but I'd already winterized the boat.

I didn't say that you didn't run your boat. I'm pretty sure that I saw Gregg go around to the fuel dock and then head out on Friday for a bit. Most of the fleet didn't move until Saturday morning. What I could see of it that is. The cameras point right at the Donzi area and I always like to watch the action. Maybe there were more Donzis in another section. I saw 6 or 7 boats and most only went out Saturday and never returned. It had to be cold with temps dipping into the 40s and most of the time only around 50. It did top out at 62 on Saturday but was cloudy. I'd have bundled up and burned gas too but it just isn't as much fun. At least it didn't rain except for a little on Friday and I'm sure there were good times at the lodge. Gregg and sons had to have been cold with no windshield or wind deflectors! Anyway, that's what I observed on the cams and weather reports. Sorry the sun didn't come out for everyone.

We all ran both days. It started Thursday with a show and shine with the local car club, standing around in the sunshine admiring the cars and boats. Friday included a really nice trip back to 76 Falls in the afternoon sunshine. Followed by a happy hour on the docks in the afternoon sunshine. Saturday night, everyone stood around in the parking lot in the sunshine cleaning up their boats and discussing the theatrics of the run. A good time was had by those who showed. Not sure what you saw on the cams, but it doesn't really matter, I guess. I do know that I am sunburned.

Thanks to everyone for making it such a blast.

Never said you didn't have a good time. I said that spring hadn't sprung for AOTH which is what this thread is about. Was it not cold and cloudy the whole time with a low turnout? That's all I said and then your good friend, who has tried to sabotage my local friendships btw, tried to make me look like a liar. Maybe I WAS there and you didn't even know it! Todd, why don't you take your bs to the other site. It's been much more civil here since you left. Post over there how sunny and awesome it was. I'm sure everyone had a good time at the lodge even though Fishin' Sucks wasn't there to do the auction and Jim and Scott weren't able to make it this year. . . . .

Since AOTH has been brought up.....awesome video! Thanks Easton!! Thanks to all who attended AOTH this year and sorry to those couple folks who couldn't make it due to unfortunate circumstances. We had a blast running to the new venues!! The new spots were happy to have us! Conley even gave everybody a free key chain!! The weather could have been better, but as always at AOTH, the sun came out and made for a great day of running and hanging with great friends!! I think Conley sold their rack of sunglasses(maybe shot glasses too!!). It was definitely spring at Cumberland and the Horses are awake!!!

LOL, actually, to be fair, you said the event was "a bust" with clouds, cold, rain, only 7 boats, blown "drives", "long tows" and everyone pulling their boats after the run on Saturday (which is when most people do as the last run of the event is the run on Saturday, so I'm not sure of the point there). That's a lot more than the weather characterizing the event as a bust. Sounds closer to Schleprock from the Flintstones. Standing back, it just kinda seems like a half-empty vs half full mentality. Right down to the damning with faint praise ("I'm sure everyone had a good time even without Tom there to do the auction..."). Come to think of it, that sounds a little like an untweetable canarial disease. ;)

EDIT: and again, to each his own. Looked like the event was a blast for the folks who went. I have no doubt that some would not have not have enjoyed it the same way. And that's fine, the way it should be. Somewhere out there are people who went to a kiddie pageant over the weekend and had fun. I'd have been miserable--better for them and for me that I was at AOTH instead.

Glad to hear that the attendees were able to make the best of less than perfect conditions :). Sorry to hear that a friend of mine lost a blackhawk drive :(. It's back to cold and rainy in Michigan but the holiday week-end may be decent. I was hoping to do Muscamoot Bay on Memorial Day but even the shallows of Lake St. Clair are probably still ice cold. Not a good boating season so far up here.

Yeah, Easton's video is amazing. Still curious who persisted to get that on the big screen at dinner and how, but nice work. And special thanks to Tom and to all of Team Yellow Devil for the great rides, including bumping up my fastest-ever speed by about 4 mph.

Where else can you get Spectro oil half price? Only at A.O.T.H.
Rob and I had the pleasure of riding with Inferno and his lovely wife Susan.
Give Stan another year or two and he will be able to drive a Donzi like a pro.

Big difference between the weather and the turnout between this year and last
NO DIFFERENCE between the fun factor..
Had as much fun this time around as I did last year and even got to buy some more warm clothing..Everyone thinks us Great White North Canucks are tough..
I had 6 layers of clothing and Rob was wearing a tee shirt with SHORTS
Mind you he is from QUEBEC a different country all together.
Hedgehog made a fine auctioneer and his wife made sure everything was sold at a good price..
Another well organized event and God willing, I will be attending next year.

Anyone with breathing or walking problems
NO FEAR
A land taxi takes you to the dock and a water taxis takes you to the slips, restaurant or where ever...
Hats off to all that make this event possible...............................Ed

I have only been out once so far this year and the big boys start arriving today. I'm not sure how long they stay but for anyone who has not seen this by water it is well worth it. I'm hoping that the weather offers at least one good day over the next week to get the boat in the water and take a look. So far Matty, you're right, it looks lousy .....

Out the other day. The weather here in St Augustine is great. Even saw a black and white 22 Donzi Classic the other day.

I sure wish you could send some of that rain down here to Texas. We have had great boating weather overall, but our lakes are going down due to the extended drought.

Well I wish I could send our wet weather to Texas as well! It's raining AGAIN today so no boat  I'm doing things around the place and decided to find out what props I have around. I counted 16 and there are still others somewhere. Talk about absurd outweighing ridiculous. Our youngest said she is going to "tell Mom" unless I let her drive.

I need to get rid of all the boats and take up jogging ..................

I just want to borrow a few of them! I picked up a damaged Bravo 1 30p for $40. Gonna get it fixed locally for a spare I think since that's the prop I normally run except that Brett worked some magic on my good one.

I should have put a tag on each of them as they arrived with what I paid back in the day. :boggled: I can't even remember what models a few of them are and I haven't even cleaned out the garage fully yet lol.
I'm sure I will unearth more metal. I think I even have the Rootsy prop in there somewhere as well. If I knew how to use Ebay I'd sell the whole bunch as one big lot to a prop flipper

Hold on .............the sun just came out for 5 minutes :outtahere:
