John C John, how very true about the boating season on the great lakes but ............after reading the Holland paper today ....they mentioned that a Cold Winter could mean a very cool summer .......which in my eyes ~ could be a very good thing .

I'd get all your boating in by August
I can see big dips from lack of summer rain....Ed

I foresee a lot of time on the inland lakes before the Greats are completely thawed and warmed up enough. March 21, 2012, we were boating on Lake St. Clair and Detroit River in record setting 80+ degree heat. The cold water made it feel cooler. We cruised up the Rouge River in Detroit to look for body parts ;) . The sun was shining and it was hot in there! I got on Lake Oakland 3 times in March also. I guess this year is just averaging things out.

Yes, the water will be high and there will be lots of debris flushing down from the upper lakes so be careful.
