Wow!

That's cool.......
Hey weed-whackers (Greg), how fast will this go?
How scary (likely to go airborne, etc.....) will it be?

They did 54-60 back when introduced with consumer power 125hp. Here is another one ...........

Jay,

Because of the power on it, that one will run fast. I would speculate upper-80s, perhaps 90.

At the risk of offending the purists, a friend of mine had one of those running a "Tower of Power" Mercury 1500 XS. At the time I had a 17' Switzer V-bottom with a short shaft Merc 150, also the straight 6. My Switzer would slowly walk away from his Missile.

I drove it many times. It seemed like a very heavy hull with a fairly narrow tunnel, and the Merc 1500 XS wasn't enough power to get it moving fast enough to pack air and really "fly" like a cat should. This was in the late 70s/early 80s, way before GPS, but I would guess his ran mid to upper 50s.

At the same time, the fastest boat on our lake was a 16' Baja, also running a Merc 1500 XS that had been "warmed up" a bit. The Baja, a shallow V-bottom, was running in the mid-70s.

Sorry about the crummy picture. A quick iPhone picture of a photo from 1980. Regrets to my brother.

at the risk of being wrong, the ebay missile kinda looks like the one that Brownie restored?

That's Brownies boat OK. Restored by my friend Pete. Pete is a over achiever. This boat is done right. All composite ( sorry guys, no wood). May be the best restored example out there. Expensive but worth it. If there is an interest I can put you in touch with either Brownie himself or Pete.

Here is a Rabco copy of the Missle for 8500.00 on craiglist, looks like it needs some work.

In the early 70's there was a silver one with a 125 running around where I lived (S.E. Fl.). I had a 15' Banshee with a 135 and could walk by him especially in a little chop. Good looking boat but not to impressive speed wise.

The Rabco add says 15" short shaft. It looks like a 20" to me. Not that it matters. That boat DOES need some work before it goes FAST.
