.....perhaps the trend has finally turned in our favor :hyper:. The article below was copied from the Detroit News. Also, the NOAA station in A-Bay shows the level on 10/14/13 was 12" higher than it was on 10/21/12.

"Great Lakes water levels recover from near-record lows

Water levels in the Great Lakes region have made steady improvements after starting the year with lakes at or near record low levels, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Wednesday.

Following years of drought-like conditions and a drier-than-usual winter and spring, Lakes Michigan and Huron experienced their lowest water levels in nearly 100 years of recorded history in January. Each of the other lakes was also well below its long-term averages.
But a wet spring and similarly wet start to the fall are fueling a rebound in lake levels.

■In October, Lake Superior was two inches below its long-term average, but 13 inches above where it was the year before.
■Lakes Michigan and Huron remained 17 inches below their long-term average last month, which is 11 inches above what it was for the same month a year ago.
■Lake St. Clair was six inches below its long-term average in October, but 10 inches above the levels in October 2012.
■Lakes Erie and Ontario are both right near their long-term averages, but roughly one foot above levels from last year.

“The seasonal rise in 2013 was close to 20 inches for Lakes Michigan and Huron,” said Keith Kompoltowicz, watershed hydrology branch chief of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “The question is whether we will see another very wet period in 2014 to continue the water level rising, or will we return to drier conditions which could mean losing what we’ve gained.”
