This is indeed very tragic news.
Like everyone else I was so looking forward to a post from him saying things had made a turnaround.

My sincerest condolences to his family and everyone here who was lucky enough to call him a friend .

Very sad news. I hope Scot knew how much value he brought to our collective Donzi obsession, by keeping this board going for so many years. He never really asked for anything back except mutual respect among members. I have gained much from this site and thank him for that. RIP SVA.

He always seemed to bounce back, and like others, I believed he would beat this.

I don't think Scot ever realized how influential he was. Most of the folks I call friends were a direct, or indirect, result of Scot Van Alstine and his Donzi.net. He impacted all of our lives, and we are richer for it.

For anyone in the Greater Houston area, please join us at Outriggers on Saturday. We will drink a toast at 1:00pm.

For the rest of the world:

At 1:00pm Central Saturday, November 9, 2013 please hoist your beverage of choice. Hold it high, speak your words of farewell, then drink deep! Know that you are part of a fraternity, joined by a common interest and lucky enough to call Scot Van Alstine our friend...

I worked with Scott on this site and talked with him many times when there were issues.
It surprised me that all he wanted was a place for us to just get along and have fun.
He wanted peace and happy times for everyone here.

He gave us that and much, much more!

He will always be remembered as the peace maker that brought us together.

To our great Donzi brother . . .

Thank you Scott

Thanks for posting those photos Jefe. Scot and I emailed and talked on the phone numerous times before I ever met him face to face. One day I was in Kemah and decided to drop in at Victory and meet him face to face. When I came in I mentioned to some lady that I was looking for Scot. I had noticed a guy behind her looking intently at a computer screen but it could've been anybody since I had never seen him. She asked me my name and when I told her who I was the guy at the computer heard it and he jumped up and came over to me. We shook hands and gave each other kind of a tentative half ass hug cause we felt we knew each other pretty well even though we had never met.

Scot and I talked boats and engines and he took me on a tour of the shop and showed me his pride and joy...his 22'. I went by there every chance I got and a few times he was at treatment and I had often just missed him. Fortunately, for me I was able to catch him there from time to time. As many others have stated here, Scot had such a generous and genuine soul that I just thought he was a wonderful human being. Never complained and was always willing to help. Plain and simple...I am gonna miss him.

Carl, that's a nice thought, but I suspect that Marcus has plenty to deal with just keeping everything running, and that the most helpful thing we can do right now is keep requests to a minimum. Folks can do some things on their own thought--maybe grab such a pic and put it in your signature.
