This is indeed very tragic news.
Like everyone else I was so looking forward to a post from him saying things had made a turnaround.

My sincerest condolences to his family and everyone here who was lucky enough to call him a friend .

I am simply heartbroken. Such a good guy, unfortunately I don't anymore than anyone. I've tried to contact Kim, but I have not been successful yet. I'll let everyone know more as I do.

Just a note, we should always be prepared to go, you never know when it's your turn.

Very sad news. I hope Scot knew how much value he brought to our collective Donzi obsession, by keeping this board going for so many years. He never really asked for anything back except mutual respect among members. I have gained much from this site and thank him for that. RIP SVA.

So sad. But Scot made a difference in my life. Because of his efforts my life has been enriched with friends across the country that without him wouldn't have happened. Miss you brother and friend...

11-05-2013, 09:56 PM
I feared that this day might come as we heard less and less from him.
He fought the good fight. A great gentleman and friend.
I always enjoyed talking with him and wish I had a chance to meet him.
God bless him and his family.

11-05-2013, 10:07 PM
Our thoughts and prayers are with Scot's family. We never had the privilege to meet him in person but we never would have attended events and met our friends in the Donzi community without his work keeping this site and community going.

Speechless. . . .

. . . . a short while ago, when the site was down for a while, I shot him a heads up, and he just responded "Very sick."

He always seemed to bounce back, and like others, I believed he would beat this.

Ditto gcarter.

I don't think Scot ever realized how influential he was. Most of the folks I call friends were a direct, or indirect, result of Scot Van Alstine and his Donzi.net. He impacted all of our lives, and we are richer for it.

For anyone in the Greater Houston area, please join us at Outriggers on Saturday. We will drink a toast at 1:00pm.

For the rest of the world:

At 1:00pm Central Saturday, November 9, 2013 please hoist your beverage of choice. Hold it high, speak your words of farewell, then drink deep! Know that you are part of a fraternity, joined by a common interest and lucky enough to call Scot Van Alstine our friend...

I only met Scot once, at the Owners Rally in Destin 2008. Great guy. He and Jefe' were like Abbott and Costello! Very funny characters. He will be missed. I was honored when he put the photo of me sitting in my 22 on the banner of the Donzi Registry that you can see below. Rest in Peace Scot...

I worked with Scott on this site and talked with him many times when there were issues.
It surprised me that all he wanted was a place for us to just get along and have fun.
He wanted peace and happy times for everyone here.

He gave us that and much, much more!

He will always be remembered as the peace maker that brought us together.

To our great Donzi brother . . .

Thank you Scott

Here are a few shots of Scotty I found this morning.
I love you brother. I miss you. I'm sad because I'm selfish....I know you are out of pain and in an amazing place!!

11-09-2013, 07:32 PM
Thanks for posting those photos Jefe. Scot and I emailed and talked on the phone numerous times before I ever met him face to face. One day I was in Kemah and decided to drop in at Victory and meet him face to face. When I came in I mentioned to some lady that I was looking for Scot. I had noticed a guy behind her looking intently at a computer screen but it could've been anybody since I had never seen him. She asked me my name and when I told her who I was the guy at the computer heard it and he jumped up and came over to me. We shook hands and gave each other kind of a tentative half ass hug cause we felt we knew each other pretty well even though we had never met.

Scot and I talked boats and engines and he took me on a tour of the shop and showed me his pride and joy...his 22'. I went by there every chance I got and a few times he was at treatment and I had often just missed him. Fortunately, for me I was able to catch him there from time to time. As many others have stated here, Scot had such a generous and genuine soul that I just thought he was a wonderful human being. Never complained and was always willing to help. Plain and simple...I am gonna miss him.

11-12-2013, 03:16 PM
We will miss you Scot. May you rest in peace.

I meet Scott at one of the first Donzi Gatherings at Disney. Always enjoyed his company, speaking to him or e:mailing. A good Guy we'll all miss. Glad to have known him. God Bless his family and friends. If it wasn't for Scott most of us may never had meet.

12-15-2013, 11:23 AM
Carl, that's a nice thought, but I suspect that Marcus has plenty to deal with just keeping everything running, and that the most helpful thing we can do right now is keep requests to a minimum. Folks can do some things on their own thought--maybe grab such a pic and put it in your signature.
