Hi Everyone,
I have this old boat that I picked up some time ago because I loved the look of it but had no idea what it was. It got to the point I thought I would have to sell it so I listed it on ebay aus and was informed by another ebayer it was in fact a Donzi. Since then I have been doing lots of reading about Donzi's but have only been able to find Info from the U.S.

I would greatly appreciate help in identifying my boat and if it is infact a genuine Donzi.

It is fitted with a Mercruiser 888 Leg and I have a Ford 302 Windsor in pieces that came out of her.
The deck feels dry and brittle and is sun baked, crows feet hairline finish cracks all over it.

Is there anywhere I should be able to find I.D. numbers? I would assume it is a 70's Hull - 888 Mercruiser was 1972?

anyway here is a few pics please tell me what you think and any info is very much appreciated.

Cheers
Ash

It is a 16 hull, just not built by Donzi. There were many companies that made copies of the 16. The way you can tell it is indeed a Donzi designed hull is the hook in the back, which is clearly visible on your boat. Don't feel bad, some of the copies were nice quality boats. Put an engine in it and enjoy!

the 302 should not be a problem finding parts and you're in the right neighborhood to save on shipping for HiTek exhaust risers.

the merc 888 i don't know much about a few friends had them with the ford v 8 and they beat on them pretty hard with no issues back in the 70's, not sure if parts are going to be hard to find or not.

the base ford was the merc 188 188 hp 302ci they did have a 233 but that was a 351w.

I would add some venting to the rear deck for the bilge doesn't look like there is much air flow there

Found this:biggrin:

Thanks Joseph, but it's definitely a 19 foot (5.8m) boat.

Mattyboy, just wanted to say thanks again for all your assistance. I went out to have a look at the boat today and can confirm the hull is splashed from a Donzi 19 St Tropez, but it's definitely not a Donzi.

Some additional research revealed the following which might be useful to know in case a question similar to this comes up in future.

Back in the late 60's a company by the name of Admiral Marine brought the 16 and 19 molds to Australia. When Admiral Marine went bust, CO Jensen bought the molds and began to produce boats under the name of Donzcraft.

Not quite sure which, but it was either Admiral Marine or CO Jensen who designed the deck seen in the above pictures.

Unfortunately this boat is not in great shape and will require a substantial amount of work to bring it back to it's former glory. Negotiations continue:wink:

Thanks again Mattyboy :wink::)

the hull number which is stamped into the hull on the starboard side at the top of the transom is SOA-5-029.
the boat was built by admiral consolidated industries at Bayswater, Victoria.
i have tried to look them up but they no longer exisit.
the picture was taken at Boreen Point, queensland, Aus.
