Pretty cool, I've never seen a full Kevlar hull .................750hp :embarasse

1998 Scarab SCS 23 w/ Blown 509
1998 Wellcraft Scarab SCS 23 w/ full Kevlar hull. Full custom restoration inside and out, one of a kind! 750 horsepower: blown mercruiser 509 roller motor with high performance lifters, hardened crank, J+E pistons, custom ported heads, Vortech supercharger with after-cooler, fuel injection, MSD ignition, Imco exhaust. Engine was built from the ground up with a very specific design. Bravo XR drive w/ external hydraulic ram steering, freshly serviced. Custom labbed 30 pitch prop. Boat goes 90mph in cool weather, will do 85 mph with 4 people, full tank of gas, and 2 coolers in 100 degree weather. Motor costs $23,000 alone, plus it has a newer $4000 trailer, and almost $4000 into the Dana 1000 tabs. The Kevlar hull is very light, so its not as stressful on the drive. There is no wood in the hull either, so no stringer rot to worry about. Integrated swim platform on rear. Custom interior with full carpet. Custom paint inside and out with hand-painted graphics. Huge stereo with the best of everything. 3 amps, 11 speaker (including 1 15 and 2 10 subs). Ipod connection, cd changer. Triple oversized batteries with on-board charger let you crank the stereo all day with no worries. Have receipts for everything, 2nd owner. Comes with a bimini top as well. Boat is in Lake Havasu and has only been used in fresh water. $39,500 obo, 310-422-3374

Yep, you're right, now I remember that it was Face Off. Time to rent the movie to see the SCS in action!

Here is another Scarab SCS 23 that just came up for sale with a stock 454 Magnum priced at ...... $14,000

Beautiful boat. Amazing. Runsperfect. Turns heads every time I drive it.Prettyrare, I'm sure you know that.
1997 Scarab SCS, 23.8' long,Kevlar and carbon fiber body.
454 Magnum engine, rebuilt in2009, with receipts. Outdrive has IMCO external steering, outdrive was rebuiltdue to early signs of an aging gimbal bearing in late 2011. New upholstery lastyear, all white, new through-hull performance exhaust and risers.
Comes with Aluminum tandemtrailer. Boat no longer has the "Rat Now" on the sides. And just fromsitting for awhile this year, it'll need a good detail job and some loving tobring it back to the shine that it has in these pics.
Twin batteries with batteryswitch, one new battery and one is getting weak.
New Audio system
Mercruiser Racing Prop.
Few random items like LEDs inthe gunnels that are white and red-controlable color, depth finder, also a redLED plug light that is a cool idea but not great in the brackish waters I runin, if you have clear lake/coastal waters, it'll be awesome.
I have receipts for all workdone. Engine rebuild, Outdrive rebuild, Audio, upholstery. Handles like aferrari on the water with the hydraulic external steering.
I absolutely love this boat,I've only put around 30-40 hours on it in the past 5 years due to workingoverseas. Boat has under 300 hours total on it. This boat was just serviced andready for the water, new intake manifold, oil change, water pump, impeller, andgeneral servicing. Comes complete with all required safety equipment, a greyboat cover, .
For cosmetics, it has acouple spots on the top where I was lucky enough to find some gnarly bolts atvarious public docks.
Clear title, boat is inJacksonville, FL. Best thing to do is call at Nine Zero Four - 625-2084 oremail me at shawnwynn at hotmail.com. I
Price is $14,000 obo.

I guess the handful of SCS 23 hulls that were built by Scarab all had Kevlar and epoxy layup schedules which is pretty exotic for 1997. The 454 Magnum boat clocked 76mph on gps.

I wonder if the kevlar ones were done up for Universal Studios? Back in the day they did a show there that had them jumping over ramps, etc. and I always wondered how they survived the abuse.

I sold a few of these back in the day. Provided the boat checks out, that's a lot of fun for $14 K !

Wow, with 750 ponies 90 mph seems a bit steep. Two years later and the seller has dropped the price from $39,500 to $25,000 ......:blub:
