I saw these gas caps and even though I don't need them bought them because I thought they looked cool. These suckers are heavy, they weigh 3.5lbs each!

I'm not sure what year range they might be or what boats would have used them.

They're really nice, we put one on the Cig 20. I think my dad's '82 Squadron has one as well, but it might not be stock.

These flip top fuel fills came stock on my 1985 Eliminator Daytona, but the bases are not round like yours. I took this picture after they were powder coated gold. I think flip tops look right on certain boats and cars.

Thanks guys. You don't see heavy metal like these have anymore. It looks like they may be mid 70's to mid 80's vintage. I bought them from a gent in Minnesota.

I have one on my 20' Cigarette. They were a high quality caps that were made by an English company, ENOTS. They came in 2 styles Aston & Monza

They are also the same caps used on many British sports cars, motor cycles and luxury cars. The larger caps were also used on the original Ford Cobras.

Great score if they are original ENOTS.

Which have to have been made by a guy named 'Stone.'

The problem I have with mine is they must have had some sort of seal, gasket or o-ring between the cap housing and the flange. The flange is bolted to the deck and the cap is not straight when tightened. I have made a few gaskets that go between the housing and flange and not gotten the thickness correct so the cap is straight.

Greg, nice find. Are you going to put them to good use? Or just stash them.

Right now I am going to stash them. They deserve to be on the right rig. I guess they would be chrome on brass given the weight. Although they would need to be re-chromed, even the spring to pop the cap is intact.

Originally manufactured in England by the Enots company, no one is quite sure of the original date this types of caps began to appear on automotive applications. We have seen advertisements in car magazines dating back to 1937 making them one of the oldest automotive components still in current use. They will always be associated with famous competition cars of the sixties. Twin Monza type caps on the rallying Mini Coopers and single large Aston caps on Cobras and others. As with all great designs they are timeless and certainly do not look out of place on modern day machinery.

Monza caps are available in either polished aluminium or chrome plated brass. A concealed snap action release facilitates opening and makes for a very clean appearance. Caps are supplied in vented form, but for competition we can supply a conversion to non-vented. Monza caps are designed to screw-on to threaded brass collars, or chrome plated brass bolt-on flanges for direct tank or remote to tank mounting. Popular for all automotive, motorcycle, marine and aviation applications.

Aston caps are available in either polished aluminium or chrome plated brass (3.5" version can also be supplied in black epoxy finish). With its quick release action, the Aston cap was used primarily as a fuel filler cap on sports racing cars before dry break systems became compulsory for international racing. The actual catch/latch mechanism has been simplified over the years and to satisfy contemporary safety regulations further modifications are likely. A "roller" catch version, to satisfy the purists, is available on the large 3.5" Aston. Caps are supplied in vented form, but for competition we can supply a conversion to non-vented. Aston caps are designed to screw-on to threaded brass collars, or chrome plated brass bolt-on flanges for direct tank or remote to tank mounting. Popular for all automotive, motorcycle, marine and aviation applications.

I just stumbled on another set of gas caps so I bought them. These look like NOS and are 3" it looks like where the other two sets are smaller.

Interesting scippy as the last set I picked up have the extra long barrel. The other two sets have a pretty short barrel.

As I have been digging up old stuff I found out I have three sets of these caps, each of which are different sizes. I don't think they are going to work on the project :frown:

I really like the look of it. I think it'd be great on a woody somewhere around the stern.

The parts are not sold separate however you can buy an alloy version for less than $75.00 each (if they are worth that to you). I have a few sets that have been plated and need new gaskets and expansion pins to finish them off. They cost in the $300 range each so if you find a set that is good then you made a deal. If you find a set for say $50 and they need plate and gaskets them they are better a paper weight.
I have a really cool 3-1/5 inch version that's I got for $20.00. Its alloy so it only needs buffed. Going to put it right smack in the middle of a benchseat Hornet someday.
Here is where you can get new ones. They are in Sarasota FL
