water pickup

Has anyone installed a transom mounted water pickup on their Donzi? I am considering it to:
1) provide a better water supply to my pump, and 2) facilitate easier plumbing.

Which model did you use, where did you place it, and did it work?

Any preference between a transom mounted pickup and a through the hull pickup?
